INFO: The Picos de Europa is a concentrated mountain range spanning Cantabria and Asturias in Northern Spain and reaching up to 2650m in height. Busier in July-Sept, May is an ideal time to visit. There is still some snow on the peaks and there are only a few people on the popular trails.
Temperatures are in the mid-teens to low twenties and ideal for leisurely walking.
The Picos are a National Park, with a wealth of botanical species and wild-life including alpine meadow habitats rare in other parts of Spain and Europe.
