Cork City Council and the Atlantic Social Lab project been working with the PPN on an interesting Participatory Grant-making project – ‘Cork Voices’.

The leaflet is attached. The idea is that community based organisations nominate their projects, and shortlisted groups have the opportunity to make a short, storytelling video which is used to engage the audience. Anyone in Cork can then vote for the project they think is most deserving. In the early stages of the pilot, projects included a small staff canteen in a community work space, and a start up pot for a next project to make musical instruments. You can check out the videos for the first tranche of applicants here

The big picture is all about engaging communities in decision making. This competition is only open to PPN members BUT basically all community and voluntary orgs. are eligible for PPN membership, and joining up is very easy.
