Katie Keogh, of the U.S. Embassy of Dublin, explains the Creative Minds Social Entrepreneurship Hackathon:
The U.S. Embassy is hosting its third annual youth conference, the Creative Minds Social Entrepreneurship Hackathon on November 6 – 8th in partnership with the DCU Ryan Academy.
A hackathon is an intense event during which teams comprised of young leaders, designers, developers, and innovators come together to solve a social entrepreneurship challenge.
The challenge is to ‘create a social innovation product or service that will improve the lives of young people.’ With the guidance of mentors from leading high-tech and multinational companies, the three-day hackathon will encourage participants to ideate, incubate, network, and create solutions, culminating in a pitch zone competition where groups will present their ideas to an expert panel.
Accommodation, transportation – including a small travel stipend to/from the conference hotel, and meals will be provided for all participants. Applicants must be 18 – 25 year olds.
