Contract: 2 years, full-time, starting September 2019
Based: Cork or Galway with some travel within Ireland
Salary: €45,000 – €55,000 per annum, based on experience
Annual Leave: 24 days

ROLE PURPOSE

Manage a portfolio of awardees to meet programme impact targets, by driving maximum achievement of social impact, in line with investment objectives and conditions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Children & Youth Funds Manager, this role will work with a specific portfolio of awardees to drive and deliver Social Innovation Fund Ireland’s impact, working closely with our small and agile team, and working in a high growth, fast-paced environment. It is a critical relationship manager with SIFI applicants, awardees, and the wider SIFI community, including donors. Success will look like a group of self-evidently impactful awardees. These awardees will have been selected through SIFI’s rigorous selection process and will have participated in a powerful capacity building programme, which they all agree was transformative in building their future plans for increased local and national growth and impact.

Responsibilities include:

  • To secure high-quality applicants by leading Fund promotion and the recruitment of applications
  • To run the call for applications and project selection process
  • To plan and deliver the capacity building and Gamechanger programmes, which will be facilitated in part by you / SIFI and in part by commissioned partners
  • To lead and manage the investment relationship with relevant SIFI Fund awardees  (successful applicants) , including performance management and holding them to account
  • To work with the awardees to develop strategic / business plans, define their social impact goals, , build the capacity of the projects to deliver the promised impact, and manage other suitable  supports.
  • To commission and coordinate the relationship between suppliers, consultants, grantees and SIFI
  • To build successful partnerships with other organisations as required
  • To set (in conjunction with your line manager), and to meet, programme targets
  • To manage budgets and provide financial reports and social impact reports to the CEO, team and Board.
  • To support the marketing, fundraising and communications work of SIFI
  • To be an Ambassador for SIFI.

The Fund Manager will meet programme targets, and will track progress and prepare reports on social impact achieved. He/she will at all times represent SIFI in accordance with SIFI’s vision, mission and values, will undertake training and development as requested by the CEO, and may be asked to take on other duties on request.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience – 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills – in a paid or voluntary role
  • Experience or nuanced understanding of the distinctions and unifying factors of for-profit and not for profit organisations
  • Experience in innovation contexts.
  • Familiarity with Sustainable Development Goals

Analytical and Business Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse material and summarise, distil and synthesise quickly – both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to analyse / write a strategic or business plan
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Experience (or interest in) research, impact measurement and an understanding of academic evaluation processes
  • Track record of project management in the business and / or social sector
  • Ability to demonstrate / develop an investment perspective.

Financial Skills

  • Familiarity with analysing financial statements, developing business and cash flow planning and cost controlling.
  • Experience of preparing and managing project budgets.
  • People and leadership skills
  • Track record of partnership building
  • Ability to build trust, even against the odds
  • Management – Ability to line manage people, provide support and guidance
  • Leadership – Capacity to lead a group of diverse innovators and leaders to work towards ambitious targets and a shared common vision/goal

HOW WE WORK

There are four phases to the typical social impact work involved in our programmes:

  1. Finding the best social innovations – Prepare and run the call for applications, run the selection process, prepare recommendations on who should be selected for the awards.
  2. Investing in their social impact – A small number of awardees will receive a cash award plus a programme of non-financial supports that target growth. This role will manage the timing and targeting of the capacity building non-financial supports, to maximise the social impact by the Awardees, and will administer the financial supports.
  3. Communicating the power of the programme – There are several opportunities during the programme to communicate externally about this awards programme.
  4. Concluding the programme well – this requires capturing and communicating the social impact achieved by awardees during the programme, capturing lessons learned that can inform future programmes, and closing out relationships in a positive way.
